Today we feature a super fun homecoming from Hilary Mercer Photography! A few words about the day… This is Charlotte and Colin. The first set of jets home. These are F-15E’s. The Strike Eagle from Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC. There are always delays when it comes to jets but surprisingly I dont think there were any with these guys. They had been gone a little over 7 months. I dont think very many things make me prouder than seeing all these people waving their signs and wearing yellow. Yellow is our squadron color but I always liked that its also a color in support of the troops!

I love the simplicity of this whole session and how it was beautifully captured! This session comes to us from Radiate Beauty Photography! Here are a few words about the session… I photographed this couple last summer. They were so much fun to work with. When Sarah first contacted me, she was looking for fresh, fun and candid images of her and her sailor. They were new to the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area and found me through a group of mutual friends, who are also in the Navy. I did a lot of their images in black and white because they’re a simple couple with a lot of spunk and care free spirits that truly show in that composition with the black and white. I didn’t want to overdo it with coloring of the images, because I felt it took away from the focus of their love that I wanted people to be able to see.

I love everything about this homecoming! Look how happy they both are! So fun & awesome. This session comes to us from Hilary Mercer! Here are a few words from her about the session: This is Jessica and Mike and their homecoming date was delayed. A lot. Almost 3 weeks in between the two which is crazy. There isnt much to say other than it’s really hard to photograph homecomings sometimes. Hah! Running after these women being 9 months pregnant was hard work! I had my baby 4 days after Jessica’s homecoming. Perhaps the running did it?

This sweet homecoming session comes to us from Kiyomi Photography! Here are a few words about the session… This homecoming occurred in December 2011, when the Tomcatters of VFA-31, attached to the USS Bush, returned home at NAS Oceana. The family in the photo, the Cronauer family, are clients that turned into awesome friends. I shot their pre deployment session before hubby deployed, then a few months after he left, she found out she was preggo! She spent the entire deployment preggo, and gave birth to their beautiful baby boy Hudson three weeks after daddy got home. Her story caught the eye of the photo editors at Glamour magazine, and their story and my photos are featured in a special segment that interviewed 6 different families about coming home from deployment.
